The everyday spice rack hero
Garlic powder is the spice most British home cooks use without thinking. A sprinkle in mashed potato. A pinch in marinade. Mixed into burger meat. The difference between weak supermarket garlic powder and proper coarse-ground granulated garlic is enormous. Costack Garlic Granules is a coarse-grade granulated garlic with the fresh aroma that bottled supermarket powder has lost from sitting in warehouses for months. Six ways to use it.
1. Garlic butter (the everyday upgrade)
Mix 100g softened salted butter + 2 tsp Costack Garlic Granules + 1 tbsp chopped parsley + pinch of Costack All Purpose Seasoning. Use on bread, melted over steak, tossed into pasta, or stirred into mashed potato. Will keep in the fridge 2 weeks.
2. Garlic bread (the proper way)
Cut a baguette into slices, almost through. Spread garlic butter (above) generously between slices. Wrap in foil. Bake at 180C for 15 minutes. Unwrap. Bake 5 more minutes to crisp. The garlic bread that beats every supermarket version.
3. Burger seasoning
For 500g beef mince: add 1.5 tsp Costack Garlic Granules + 1 tbsp Costack Meat Seasoning + 1 finely chopped onion. Mix gently. Form into 4 patties. Rest 15 minutes before cooking.
4. Garlic roast potatoes
Parboil 1kg potatoes 8 minutes. Drain. Shake in the colander to rough up edges. Toss with 4 tbsp goose fat or oil + 2 tsp Costack Garlic Granules + 1 tbsp Costack All Purpose Seasoning. Roast at 200C for 50-60 minutes. The crispiest, most flavoured roast potatoes you've ever made.
5. Marinades
Standard chicken marinade: 4 tbsp olive oil + 2 tbsp lemon juice + 1.5 tsp Costack Garlic Granules + 1 tbsp Costack Chicken & Turkey Seasoning + 1 tsp Costack Dried Thyme. Marinate 2-24 hours. Works on chicken, lamb, prawns, halloumi.
6. Garlic soup base
For any soup or stew: when sauteing onions at the start, add 1-2 tsp Costack Garlic Granules to the oil along with the onions. The granules bloom in the oil and add a layer of savory depth that fresh garlic alone doesn't quite hit.
Why coarse-ground granulated garlic vs powder?
Standard supermarket "garlic powder" is finely ground and loses aroma fast. Coarse-grade granulated garlic (which is what Costack uses) holds its volatile oils better, gives a more pronounced bite, and stays fresh longer in the jar. The trade-off: granules take 30 seconds longer to bloom in hot oil. Worth it for the depth.
